Some Great songs picturised on little known actors..;

There are many popular and melodious songs from the fifties and sixties that have been picturised on small time actors who were not able to make it big..;Most of these films were the B and C category fliks , some of which were never released for some reason or the other, but the songs became immensely popular and continue to be so...
I am listing some of these melodious songs..
The names that come to my mind are Shekar,Chandra shekar,Suresh,Ranjan,Salim Khan,Praveen , Sujit Kumar,Sudhir,Sudesh Kumar,Mahipal,Sailesh Kumar...rings a bell? NO!!

The swashbuckling hero of the south did not make much of an impact on the hindi screen, he acted with Naseem bano ,Madhubala,Meena kumari and others.The first song that comes to my mind is one of my favorite duets with Naseem Bano 'Ada se jhoom the hue ' and another great favorite 'Roop Tumhara aankhon se pee lu' from the film 'Sapera' which for some reason was never released, and 'Tum jo aao toh pyar aa jaaye' from 'Sakhi Robin' , and Sama hai pyar ka bahaar ke hai mele from 'Baghi sipaahi', where he was teamed with the lovely Madhubala and the ever green numbers from Madari 'Dil lootnewale Jaadugar....

One of Rafi's most beautiful songs ' Mujhe tumse muhobbat hai(Bachpan) and the duet 'Tere hum o sanam from Bachpan' were picturised on him..

Another lucky guy who got to sing one of Rafi;s most melodious songs Maana mere haseen sanam from a small time film 'The Adventures of Robinhood', which incidentally had 3 more beauties Sanwaar de jo pyar se, Jawan jawan husn ke and Pyar ke baat nigahon se jataya na karo, probably one of Mahendra kapoor's best duets ever with Lata mangeshkar

The song 'Haseen wadiyon hawavon se kehedo' by Rafi was picturised on him in' Laal bangla'.

Sudesh Kumar

He was always the second hero in some prominent films of the fifties and sixties ..

  1. Oh..i often think how lucky these people are ..to be immortalized on screen with these beautiful timeless melodies. I came to know so many beautiful songs and on whom they were picturised..thanks to you.
    Ranjan, i remember for " Dil lootne wale jadugar.." from Madari, a wonderful duet of Mukesh and lata. Looking back, we should give those immortal singers their due. They never thought about the Hero they are singing for..or the budget of the film..but instead concentrated on the song and gave their best to it. Maybe this should serve as an eye opener for generations to come..

  2. These people are really fortunate to have enacted such beautiful numbers on screen. The greatness of the song will keep it alive, while the actors go to seed and disappear. Some of them turned out to be Villains, comedians or character artists on the screen. I still recall the disappointment i had when i saw Jagdeep singing the song ' paas baitho tabeeyat from Punarmilan. :-)

  3. I agree, music has absolutely no distinction, when we hear a melodious song we dont reject it because it is picturised on so and so or composed by so and so etc....
    Jagdeep had quite a few sons to his credit
