Musings - Is Life Really Unfair..

Life is unfair. And it’s not fair that life is unfair...

I happened to read this somewhere on the net and this got me thinking, is that really so? No doubt there are injustices but i feel it is only when one rises above self pity and fights against any kind of inequality that we are able to make world a better place for ourselves..

I believe that i have to accept responsibility , realise that the world does not owe me a living, so go about making a life as i want ..
Fairness is subjective, so it makes sense to see others viewpoints as well. It is better to co operate and compromise and also earn rather than demand..
Thinking with one's head instead of one's feeling is far more productive- it can many a times turn a negative situation into a positive one..
It is better to be positive and count one's blessings rather than one's grievances. At least then you are making progress.

Some quotes from Dalai Lama's message that i particularly found worthwhile..

1, Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

2, Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

3, When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

4, Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

5, Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

6, Follow the three R’s: Respect for self, Respect for others, Responsibility for all your actions.

7, Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
