Melodious Old Hindi film music

When i look back, i find that every single event in my life has been enhanced and influenced by music.As a teenager i was exposed to Vivdhbharti and Radio ceylon, my day began and ended with them.We used to have lively discussions about various film songs and debates about the great singers Rafi,Mukesh,Kishore kumar,Hemant Kumar,Talat Mehmood, Manna Day and Lata Mangeshkar,Asha Bhonsle,Geeta Dutt,Suman Kalyanpur..and the Music directors Naushad,S.D.Burman,Shankar Kaikishen,C.Ramchandra,Salil Chodhury etc;
I feel that the fifties and the sixties had the best of everything, films,actors and music directors.
One can see the dedication and love for perfection in all those old melodies.Thats the reason why they make such an impact on us and are never forgotten.
With the later part of seventies set in a trend for racy music with little regard for lyrics and tune and the trend continued through the eighties and so on..and about the present day film music , the lesser said the better...

  2. i agree with you that change is a part of life.But change should be positive, then it is welcome.As far as music is concerned the only positive change has been in the technical sound quality of the audio and the revenue earned by the singers whether they are good or bad..

  3. It is indeed universally accepted that the best music came from sixties and fifties. The music from seventies onwards went downward basically with the influence of the western music. I remember the songs from Disco Dancer..which was a such a rage then. What happened to them ? They were lost in the sands of time...but not the songs from Awara...or Shree 420.
    Soul lasts for ever..not the body.
