Philosophy For Everyday Life
What is life? Why are we here?.....
Human life is a journey whose end is not in sight. Searching, longing and questioning is in our DNA. Who we are and what we will become is determined by the questions that animate us, and by those we refuse to ask. Your questions are your quest. As you ask, so shall you be.
-Sam Keen
We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep…
William Shakespeare,
When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill, and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant, and which know me not, I am frightened, and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, why now rather than then. Who has put me here? By whose order and direction have this place and time been alloted to me?
B. Pascal, 1623-1662, French philosopher, physic and mathematician
At our mother breast, we tasted not only milk but also love – just enough love to know that it was the only thing that could ever satisfy us and that we will miss it forever.
Compte-Sponville, French philosopher
The wise man has the sun and the moon by his side. He grasps the universe under the arm. He blends everything into a harmonious whole, cast aside whatever is confused or obscured, and regards the humble and the honourable.
Tchuang-Tseu, Chinese philosopher
There may be trouble ahead,
But while there’s moonlight and music and love and romance,
Let’s face the music and dance.
Irving Berlin, 1888-1989, American songwriter

On a Happier note....
Life is offering a wide range of emotions and events; they help us to discover who we really are. Nothing happens by coincidence. Learn how to interpret all the events of your life.
Learn how to live a life of abundance and prosperity.
Yes it is up to us to create a better world!

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
ReplyDeleteMark Twain:
There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.
Mark Twain:
Let us so live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.
Mark Twain:
Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.
:-)

Mark Twain:
How very true...but how many actually get to live like that?or have the courage to go ahead and do things that they want or wish to do?....most of the time our life is a sham, living by other's standards i am afraid..;
What you said is true Kiran..But we do have the choice..dont we ? And trust me, a time always comes for us too, lesser mortals, to fulfill their unquenched dreams and desires. Atleast let us not leave hope. It is glorious to hope and dream.. :-)
ReplyDeletevenkat, for many it is only hope and dreams that makes life bearable ,because against all odds something wonderful might happen..; this thought carries them forward through life ..; never mind if nothing happens in the end, at lest there was hope and dreams
